Aleksandar PETROVIC
PETROVIC Aleksandar was born in Paris in June 1971 of Yugoslav parents. Very young age, Aleksandar spends long hours observing his father
working in the studio housed in the family home of this year
in Vincennes. A kind of Ali Baba cavern crammed with canvases and tubes of
color, furniture and a verity of miscellaneous items. Furniture
and objects of any kind, in any form, of any origin, which fascinate the boy. Soon, Aleksandar himself starts to work in the different
techniques used by his father. Soon, he discovers and masters new.
Restoration of antique furniture, the stonework, carving ... At the age of 14, when in his room it was only the
bed not invaded by the objects - he gets from his
parents permission to make a hut in the garden as a workshop. So, he takes furniture and objects from all sides
surround condemned to oblivionat worst a certain death, at best .
He think, conscientiously undertake to reverse engineer and then to
assemble them to give them a new life. From 1995 to 2003, in parallel with his art, Aleksandar acts as
manager, and head designer of accessories on many productions of short
films, video clips and films. In 2001, with his father, he went to Yugoslavia to restore the
only known Iconostasis wrought metal of the Orthodox world (Eglise
Saint-Michel de Progar 50 km from Belgrade).
Today, in a former factory in Montreuil, Aleksandar divides his
time between his own creations and the restoration of antique furniture
and interior decorating. It was in October 2005, participated in the Open des Ateliers d'Artistes de la Ville de Montreuil. In 2006 and 2007, he participated in numerous exhibitions,
including in Paris at the Salon "Short Circuit" to the White Coats, the
"Marché de l'Art" at Bastille, or "Art Suspended" but also in region
Paris at the Galerie Artempion at Vincennes, or comptemporain Salon Art
and Design, at Montrouge. Major creations Aleksandar, include jewelry, lighting, furniture
and more recently, sculptures light and mobile, including the series
"PETROSPACES.
